How does Dominos work in Ludo Vest?

Dominos in Ludo Vest is a two player game played at club tables with a double six set of 28 tiles. Each player gets seven tiles and the other fourteen form the boneyard. The highest double opens, players match tiles to either open end, and a player with nothing that fits draws from the boneyard. The first to empty their hand wins; if the game blocks, the lighter hand wins. One deal decides the game.

How to play

Match an end, or draw

Dominos is quick to learn: every turn you either match a number on one end of the chain or draw until you can.

  1. 1

    Deal

Each player gets seven tiles from a shuffled double six set. The fourteen left over are the boneyard.

  2. 2

    Open

The player holding the highest double opens, and the table lays that tile for them. With no double out, the heaviest tile opens.

  3. 3

    Match an end

On your turn, play one tile whose number matches either open end of the chain.

  4. 4

    Draw or pass

If nothing fits, draw from the boneyard until something does, and a drawn tile that fits must be played. With the boneyard empty and nothing to play, you pass.

How it ends

Domino, or blocked

  • Domino

Play your last tile and you win. The margin is the pips left in your opponent's hand.

  • Blocked game

If both players pass in a row, the game is blocked and the lighter hand wins, by the difference in pips. Equal hands are a draw.

  • No running score

There is no target score and no second round to play. One deal, one game, one result.

Where to play

Dominos at your club's table

Dominos is a club game in Ludo Vest. Join a club room, and a manager can seat you opposite whoever you are already talking to.

  • Hosted in a club

A club's Owner, a Super Admin or an Admin opens a Dominos table for two from the club room.

  • Seats by invitation

The host invites players who are in the club room, members or guests, and only invited players sit down. The table starts by itself when the last seat fills.

  • Free to play

Club tables have no entry fee. No Gold is staked, won or lost at the table.

  • A gallery to watch

Any member of the club can watch and chat with the seats. Spectators never see a player's hand, and the host can mute the gallery.

  • 15 seconds a turn

Each turn has a 15-second clock. If it runs out, a move is played for you so the table keeps going.

  • A shuffle you can check

The order comes from a secret seed committed before the first deal and revealed when the table ends: the same scheme as the dice in every Ludo match.

Questions

Dominos questions

How many tiles do you get in Dominos?

Seven each. A double six set has 28 tiles, so with two players fourteen stay in the boneyard to draw from.

Who goes first in Dominos?

The player holding the highest double. If neither player has a double, the tile with the most pips opens, and the table lays that first tile automatically.

Do you have to draw if you can play?

No. You draw only when no tile in your hand fits either end, and you keep drawing until one does. If the tile you draw fits, you must play it.

What happens when a Dominos game is blocked?

When both players pass in a row, the game ends and the player with fewer pips in hand wins. If the totals are equal, the game is a draw.

Can more than two people play Dominos in Ludo Vest?

Not at the moment: Dominos tables seat two, head to head. For a bigger group, a club manager can host Jackaroo or a Ludo table of up to eight instead.
